Sherlock's favorite. Some Calabash pipes are made from gourds grown especially for these pipes. No two calabash pipes are identical. Real calabash pipes also feature a bowl made of meerschaum. Although the gourd/meerschaum bowl are the traditional calabashes, many pipemakers love the shape and have made versions with mahogany/meerschaum, some with porcelain bowls or they might be made entirely of briar.
